Founded by Grammy Award-winning music producer Alex Da Kid, KIDinaKORNER is a new form of music company that combines a record label, music publisher, creative agency and production company all under one roof. KIDinaKORNER approached HAUS to create a website that showcases this unique blend of services while encapsulating their bold personality. The initial brief was simple, but over the course of several exploratory strategy sessions, we helped them define their unique content needs to develop a strategically tailored user experience.
We were tasked with interpreting their new print-based style guide and translating it to digital applications. One of their priorities was to appear avant garde, fresh, and stylish. With this in mind, we skipped the traditional Wordpress blog and developed an interactive blog + portfolio wall with a masonry grid and parallax transitions. Randomized glitchy video clips, woven throughout the site as dramatic page transitions, add personality and style to communicate KIDinaKORNER’s “punk rock meets fashion” vibe.
The CMS-backed artist library required vast flexibility to be able to support a varying amount of content; it had to be easily digestible whether it was displaying 5 artists or 500. To account for this variation, we created an Instagram-like view filter to adjust the organizational structure based on the amount of content. Within the case studies, blurred poster frames are automatically drawn from YouTube videos based on a specified timecode. This drastically simplifies content management by eliminating the need for image creation. The resulting site is a flexible experience that can be enjoyed on any device.
